First Catch of the Year

Following up on our success last year ...

We had a good first day fishing. This catfish was about 2 LBS. Amelia liked the whiskers and wanted to throw it back in with her bare hands. I persuaded her to put the gloves on.

This is how we play dominoes in our house. Sorry, dad doesn't know the rules. But I have created a master checkers player. Watch out if you play her. She is really good.

After a trip to the Harlem Renaissance exhibit at the OKC museum of art we enjoyed the Chihuly wing. She wanted to get up and touch the stuff but I held her back.

Violin Lessons Please!

We went to the kids symphony a few weeks ago and she got to play with instruments before the show. She loves the violin. We had a bit of a fight trying to get her to put it down. Looks like she will be taking lessons sometime soon.

Feeling Better Now

Amelia had strep last week. She bounced back pretty quick but still enjoyed a few special treats like eating in bed.

Happy Birthday Alex

Amelia made her first trip to Pump It Up last weekend for Alex's birthday. They had a great time as you can see here. She was so tired from all all the jumping that she went to bed 1 hour early that night.

Josifina Montoya

Some pics I took of her over Christmas with her favorite American Girl, Josifina (J is pronounced like an "h") Montoya who lived in Santa Fe in the 1860s.

Post Dentist

After you finish at the kid dentist you get to pick a prize. She was very pleased with these but didn't understand the hygienist complimenting "the new bling on her grill."

Dentist Trip - not her favorite activity

The goal of these trips must be mostly to acclimate her to going to the dentist. This seems a little silly to me given the fact that in a year or so all of her teeth will fall out be be replaced with shiny new ones. But I can tell you she already hates the dentist. First of all she does not like mint, never has. And most things at the dentist are mint flavor. She also has an easy gag reflex so the whole mouth vacuum thing just doesn't work. But we will be back in 6 months for more!

Trip to the Alligator Store

Yes that's right I said alligator store. It's called alligator alley. You really should check the place out if you have never been. They have scorpions, large spiders, snakes, dragons, and of course alligators. She had much more fun here then we have ever had at the zoo.

She just fed him in this pic. I think he is still hungry.

American Girl Doll

Amelia's top present from Santa this year was her American Girl doll Josephina. She is from Santa Fe. I think she has now completely bought into the entire American Girl franchise. So in the future you could not go wrong with any American Girl stuff for her.

Gingerbread House

Just before Christmas we made this gingerbread house as a family. Amelia did a great job with the candy on the roof, Mom made the candy walkway, and Dad did the major construction. Amelia is also practicing her model pose for you here.

Christmas Dinner

We had a traditional English Christmas dinner this year. Amelia enjoyed the crackers with paper crowns. Dad's Yorkshire Puddings got the thumbs up from Mom (I was nervous).

This year her class sang the 12 days of Christmas. You will see her third from the left as three french hens. I edited the video to spare you all 12 of her adorable classmates. At this point in the song she is getting a little bossy and quickly reminds her friends of their parts.

Learning to Wii

Amelia's favorite Wii game is boxing. She has a pounding body blow style. Watch out - she will knock you out.

Uncle Mike

Amelia was so excited to see her Uncle Mike and Auntie Lynn in Santa Fe. She got some sculpting lessons at Mike's studio and even took home some clay and an armature.
